Shelly Mosman

Shelly Mosman is a Minneapolis fine-art photographer whose career spans three decades. Trained in fine art painting and photography at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, she built her practice on elaborately staged portraiture: richly layered tableaux in which costume, backdrop, and subject combine into images that feel both contemporary and out of time. Her ongoing series Animal Child, pairing children with animals in formal portrait settings, earned her City Pages Artist of the Year. Her work is held in the collections of the Plains Art Museum, the Rockford Art Museum solo show 2017, and the Eiteljorg Museum, and was the subject of a 2025 solo exhibition at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum. She photographs from Studio 121 in the Casket Arts Building.
