My work draws inspiration from the ever-changing landscape of Lake Superior and the North Shore of Minnesota. Through oil and encaustic painting, as well as ceramic sculpture, I explore the dynamic energy of the lake, its shifting light, fog, and the motion of the waves. This landscape is one of constant transformation—each season revealing new textures, colors, and rhythms that I seek to capture in my art. The tactile nature of encaustic and oil painting allows me to embody the roughness and fluidity of the environment, evoking the energy and depth of the lake and its surrounding land. Through ceramic sculpture, I focus on the wildlife of the region, capturing their forms and gestures in a way that reflects the interconnectedness of all living things in this place. My work is an invitation to pause and reflect on the beauty of nature, to appreciate its fleeting moments and its enduring strength. Through my art, I aim to celebrate the richness of the natural world and its ever-changing, yet timeless, presence.
